OPORTunityKids is an alternative learning service structured and designed specifically for children with neurodevelopmental disorders. It is a complementary service to bridge the gaps for families — Serving Greater Moncton

Support for all abilities

OPORTunityKids was designed to bridge gaps for families who :

  • Awaiting funded programs or on waitlists for formal services
  • Have gotten answers, but need to know the “now what?”
  • Do not meet the eligibility criteria or qualify for clinical programs, but still need guidance
  • Looking for support with “Big” emotions, regulation, behaviour challenges, school readiness, or early literacy and numeracy gaps

Supporting exceptional learners of all ages with the personalized education they deserve in Greater Moncton

Hi, I’m Fara Oporto, founder of OPORTunityKids, located in Riverview, NB.

As a caregiver or parent, when we watch a child struggle or lose skills, it causes us such heartache. We often feel alone, let down, lost and overwhelmed.

Having a psychoeducational assessment can give you some clarity, but too often we hear of those who have the diagnosis and are left in the dark about what to do next. You don’t know where to turn.

It takes a village, and I’m here to be a part of your village— offering consistent, compassionate support for you and your child’s growth.

My extensive experience supporting children and youth with disabilities in education and therapy roles has led me to pursue my passion to create a space and service that alleviates the stress for families.

I take a collaborative, strengths-based approach. Together, we identify barriers, create practical strategies, and help your child move forward with clarity and confidence.

This personalized, one-on-one support is designed to bridge gaps. My goal is not to replace existing supports, but to complement them by offering families additional individualized services when needed.

Every child and family deserve to be seen as an individual and supported in ways that work for them. Together, we can help your child gain confidence, strengthen their learning, develop skills. Whether it be fine motor, social, reading or numeracy. I want to work with you to help find solutions or gain tools to help them succeed at home, in the community and in school.

Services

Individualized support for your child to thrive.

Personalized, Non-clinical & non-diagnostic sessions designed to gain and strengthen skills, confidence, and regulation through alternative learning and support.

Personalized 1-on-1 Sessions for Success

Social Skills aren’t taught in isolation- They are learned through understanding, safety and practice. I support children with social interactions by breaking down social situations into clear, manageable pieces. I can help them recognize social cues and understand what is expected in everyday interactions.

Life Skills building, Regulation & behaviour support

Behaviours are communication; they have functions, and by helping to identify the “why” a behaviour is occurring, or what purpose the behaviour serves, we can see whether your child is seeking sensory, escape, attention, or a tangible. My sessions are tailored to your child’s specific goals.

Outside Classroom Support

Math and Literacy can feel overwhelming. Let’s face it, life is busy, but we know that spending extra time on literacy and mathematics offers significant benefits, particularly for students struggling academically. Let me help unlock your child’s potential by providing instruction tailored to their needs, offering more opportunities to learn, developing stronger foundational skills, and allowing for individualized instruction. Let’s make learning and homework fun and engaging.

Life Skills

Life skills coaching for individuals with disabilities who require support for Activities of Daily Living and independent living. ADLs are more than everyday tasks: For people with autism and other needs, these are essential skills that help them care for themselves, navigate daily environments, and build independence. These services focus on practical skills—such as budgeting, cooking, cleaning, job hunting, executive functioning and planning.I want to help your loved one gain the skills and confidence they need for growth and independence.

Waitlist Support

Being on a waitlist, particularly for diagnosis, psychoeducational assessment or specialized programs, like occupational therapy, speech and language, ABA programs, can be stressful. Sometimes you need support now. Waiting lists for services in the Greater Moncton Area can be long. I can not diagnose your child, but I want you to feel heard and understood. Let me guide you in addressing your concerns while exploring new skills that may help while you wait. Let’s get you and your child on the path to opportunity.
